Extensive Business Experience

Over the past twenty five years, David has been a founder and owner of several companies ranging from boat construction and construction management to software development in the Marine Insurance and International Logistics field. Oceanwide Inc., a company he co-founded in 1995, is the leader in Marine, Cargo and Yacht Insurance software systems, which support the largest Brokers and Underwriters on a worldwide basis.

Yachting Experience

A good surveyor needs to have a tremendous breadth of knowledge of boats, equipment and the various related technologies but will also be determined enough to doggedly and systematically determine all that is wrong with a vessel. Time at sea and experience in difficult conditions also gives insight into what is seaworthy and safe.

David has had a passion for boat design and construction from a young age. He has raced extensively and cruised thousands of miles in the Atlantic, Mediterranean and Arctic oceans. He currently owns an aluminum 45 foot centerboard sloop which he has sailed across the Mediterranean Sea and Atlantic Ocean.

BM Aluminum Yachts

BM Aluminum Yachts is a venture started by Berger Marine to produce the Philippe Harlé designed Maeva 45 in Canada. The Maeva is an aluminum centerboard yacht well suited for sailing expeditions in difficult conditions.
